Local tasks in Australia and the UK
Airtasker
Bid on local jobs — gardening, moving, assembly, deliveries of large items — or post an offer. Used heavily in Australia and also in the UK. You are paid per task. Airtasker takes a service fee.

Checked 22 September 2026. Figures are ranges, not offers.
- Where
- Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and other cities) and the UK, including London. The job has to be somewhere you can physically reach.
- Hours
- Jobs are one-off. A Saturday can be one good task or three small ones. Quoting is unpaid.
- Pay
- You quote each task; the fee comes off what the client pays
- To start
- Free to join. The service fee is a percentage of the task — check the current rate in your country. Tools and transport are yours.
Why it is listed
Payment is held by the platform, the fee is public, and you are not asked to buy leads in bulk.
What you can realistically expect
Winning bids are specific. “I can do it” loses to “I can collect this on Thursday in a van I have, for this price”. Underbidding to get reviews gets old quickly.
Who pays you
The client pays through Airtasker, which holds the payment until the task is done. Do not start on a promise of cash from a brand-new account.
How to start
- Create an account on airtasker.com for your country.
- Complete the identity checks they ask for, on their site.
- Bid on three tasks you could finish with tools you own.
- Write the price after fuel, not before.
Read this before you start
- Do not pay an “Airtasker coach”.
- Tasks that involve moving other people’s money are not tasks. Decline.
- If a poster wants the job done before the payment is in the app, walk away.
Sideline will not ask you for money. Anyone who messages you claiming we will is not us. Write to [email protected] if something on this page looks wrong.
