Selling clothes you already own
Vinted
Clear a wardrobe. Vinted is built for second-hand clothes and is widely used in the UK and Europe, with a US presence. You are paid when someone buys an item you actually have.

Checked 22 September 2026. Figures are ranges, not offers.
- Where
- Postage from home. Strongest in the UK and Europe. Check that private selling is open in your country before you rely on a fee rule you read last year.
- Hours
- Photographing a pile of clothes is an evening. Packing is another. It is not a daily job unless you choose to source more stock — and that is a different, riskier business.
- Pay
- You keep most of the price you set on many private sales. Postage mistakes are the usual loss.
- To start
- Free to list. Fee rules differ by country and change. Read today’s rule in the app. Start with clothes you own so a wrong price is only a regret, not a debt.
Why it is listed
You are selling your own property to a real buyer. There is no coaching product attached.
What you can realistically expect
A honest wardrobe clear-out might be a few hundred over a month, or a slow trickle. It is the clean version of reselling. Buying stock to flip comes later, if ever.
Who pays you
The buyer pays in the app. You receive the payout after the sale completes. Never ship to a request that arrives by text outside the order.
How to start
- List ten items you would happily see go.
- Measure them. Guessed sizes cause returns.
- Use daylight and a plain background.
- Price postage the way the app asks, and re-read it.
Read this before you start
- Messages that say the buyer’s “courier” will pay you more if you ship off-app are a scam.
- Do not buy a “reseller mentor” bundle to sell your own jumpers.
- Counterfeit goods are not a side hustle. They are illegal.
Sideline will not ask you for money. Anyone who messages you claiming we will is not us. Write to [email protected] if something on this page looks wrong.
